Zachary Carter
Zachary Carter was appointed Corporation Counsel for New York City by Mayor Bill de Blasio in 2014 and retired from that post after nearly six years as the City’s chief legal officer. Previously, he was a partner at Dorsey & Whitney LLP and served as the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York from 1993 to 1999, leading an office that prosecuted official corruption, securities fraud, major narcotics, organized crime, civil rights, and human trafficking cases. He has also served as a New York City Criminal Court Judge, a U.S. Magistrate Judge, and is a member of The Legal Aid Society’s Board of Advisers.
