She later founded Northwestern’s ERASE Trafficking Clinic for survivors of human trafficking in Chicago. Her work combines pelvic-floor and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and research on pelvic-floor disorders and trauma-informed care with training and advocacy through Physicians Against Human Trafficking, Physicians for Human Rights, and related anti-trafficking networks.
“Survivorship after the repetitive and anonymous abuse of sex trafficking is not a discrete conclusion to an event. It is a constant state of mind. Despite the physical and emotional consequences they’ve suffered, my patients find the resilience every day to protect and love themselves.”
