Ruby Gerber, Melanie Thompson, and Karen Vigo were writers and performers with Girl Be Heard, the Brooklyn-based nonprofit that employed socially conscious theater-making, storytelling, and performance with girls, young women, and gender-expansive youth.  Melanie Thompson, a powerful writer, actor, activist, and survivor leader, is now Chief Advocacy and Outreach Officer for the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women and a regional advocate with the Sex Trade Survivor Caucus.  Ruby Aiyo Gerber is a poet, nonfiction writer, and librettist who co-wrote the libretto for the 2025 Opera Theatre of Saint Louis world premiere This House.
