Gara LaMarche is Senior Advisor at Raben, Leader-in-Residence at the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership at City College of New York, and Co-Chair of Leadership for Democracy and Social Justice. He has spent his 40-year career in leadership positions in human rights and social justice organizations, including the American Civil Liberties Union, Human Rights Watch, the Open Society Foundation, Atlantic Philanthropies, and the Democracy Alliance, where he served as President from 2013 to 2021. He also chairs The New Press and serves on boards including the Fund for Global Human Rights, Open Society Policy Center, StoryCorps, and the Leadership Conference for Civil and Human Rights.
