Jimmy Lee
President, The Network; Former Executive Director, Restore NYC
Jimmy Lee is President of The Network, a data-driven counter-human trafficking organization. While recognizing that it sounds callous, Mr. Lee believes most traffickers exploit people for one reason: because it makes money. In order to defeat them, he feels that it is critical to learn how their business works–how it’s organized, how it operates, and what drives profit. By analyzing a trafficker’s business, vulnerabilities can be identified and used to strategically disrupt it. The diverse team at The Network leverages skills honed in the intelligence community, data analytics, and victim service provision in order to bring about that disruption. Before joining The Network, Mr. Lee served as Senior Vice President of Mission Sustainability at Guideposts and was Executive Director of Restore NYC, an organization dedicated to ending sex trafficking. Earlier, he was a leader in the global effort to reduce HIV/AIDS among women and girls. Still earlier, Mr. Lee was a Director of Strategic Planning and Business Analysis at American Express, Director of Strategic Initiatives at World Vision, an investment banker at J.P. Morgan, and a financial analyst at Goldman Sachs.
“My mom was a poor young woman who came to this country and was able to find freedom, hope, and the opportunity to build a life that fulfilled her deepest longings. That is what our country is about. Every girl and woman who steps foot into our country, into this great city of New York, deserves what she was able to find.”
