Dr. Luz Towns-Miranda and Lin-Manuel Miranda
Dr. Luz Towns-Miranda has practiced clinical and forensic psychology for over 40 years since earning her Ph.D. and postdoctoral certificate from NYU. She has served as a psychologist at a therapeutic nursery and children’s clinic at Bronx Lebanon Hospital and trained physicians in the Family Practice Residencies both there and at the Montefiore Medical Center. She has evaluated and treated foster care children, was Firehouse Clinician following 9/11, has conducted custody and visitation evaluations for over 25 years, and served on the State Board of Psychology. Lin-Manuel Miranda is a Pulitzer, Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Award-winning songwriter, actor, producer, and director. His musical In the Heights received four Tony Awards and a Grammy Award. He created the book, music, and lyrics and won a 2016 Pulitzer Prize for his Broadway musical Hamilton and appeared in the lead role. He has also written and performed music and acted in feature films and television including Moana, Star Wars, DuckTales, Mary Poppins Returns, Encanto, The Little Mermaid, Mufasa: The Lion King, and In the Heights, and co-wrote the 2024 concept album Warriors. Mr. Miranda is a 2015 MacArthur Fellow and a 2018 Kennedy Center Honoree.
