Lynn Nottage is a playwright, screenwriter, librettist, installation artist, and Professor of Theatre/Playwriting at Columbia School of the Arts. Her play, Ruined, which explores the massive sexual abuse of women in the Democratic Republic of Congo, won the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and her play, Sweat, won the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, making her the first and only woman to win the Drama Pulitzer twice. Ms. Nottage is also the co-founder of Market Road Films; an Artistic Associate at London’s National Theatre; and the librettist of works including Clyde’s, MJ the Musical, Intimate Apparel the Opera, This House, and the upcoming Imitation of Life. Her numerous awards include the MacArthur Fellowship, Theater Hall of Fame membership, and the 2025 Washington University International Humanities Prize.
