Samantha Power is the Anna Lindh Professor of the Practice of Global Leadership and Public Policy at Harvard Kennedy School and the William D. Zabel ‘61 Professor of Practice in Human Rights at Harvard Law School. She served as Administrator of USAID from May 2021 to January 2025 and as the 28th U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations from 2013 to 2017. During President Obama’s time in office, Ms. Power played a pivotal role in bolstering this administration’s efforts to end trafficking and assist victims. She is the founding Executive Director of the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy and the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of A Problem from Hell: America and the Age of Genocide, Chasing the Flame, and the 2019 memoir The Education of an Idealist. Ms. Power began her career as a journalist, reporting from conflict areas across the globe.
