Gabrielle Prieto
Survivor of Sex Trafficking; Survivor Leader; Senior Peer Care Navigator, EMPOWER Center
Gabrielle “Gigi Phoenix” Prieto, a proud Puerto Rican woman, is a survivor leader and Senior Peer Care Navigator at the EMPOWER Center, a multi-disciplinary support program for survivors of commercial exploitation and trafficking in New York City operating under Sanctuary for Families. Having turned trauma into purpose, Ms. Prieto now advocates for justice, healing, and dignity, supporting survivors navigating broken systems with trauma-informed care, peer support, and leadership rooted in lived experience. She has also developed survivor-centered strategies that promote wellness, education, and community transformation.
“I speak for the unheard and fight to co-create spaces that honor survivor wisdom and challenge systems of exploitation. Being part of the New Abolitionists reflects my mission to rise, restore, and reimagine freedom for all survivors. We are not broken. We are rising.”
