John Savarese

Of Counsel and Former Partner, Wachtell Lipton Rosen & Katz

A former law clerk to U.S. Supreme Court Justice William Brennan and to U.S. District Judge Louis Pollak, John Savarese is now Of Counsel at Wachtell Lipton where he was a litigation partner for over 35 years.  Previously, Mr. Savarese received the Attorney General’s John Marshall Award for Outstanding Legal Achievement for his work in the United States Attorneys’ Office for the Southern District of New York.  He also served for many years as Board Chair of the Vera Institute of Justice and as a Board Member of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.  He was also the Founding Chairman of the New York City Bar Association’s Task Force seeking an end to mass incarceration. Mr. Savarese continues to serve on Harvard Law School’s Dean’s Advisory Board and on the Board of Advisors of Equal Justice Works.
