A lifelong advocate for girls’ and women’s rights, Pamela Shifman is the President of Democracy Alliance and Founder of Shake the Table, an initiative focused on progressive philanthropy, transformational leadership, and movement building.  Ms. Shifman previously spent twelve years at the NoVo Foundation, a private grant-making foundation with a focus on ending violence against girls and women, including sex trafficking, first as its Director of Initiatives for Girls and Women and then as its Executive Director.  Prior to coming to NoVo, Ms. Shifman played a lead role at UNICEF in the development of a groundbreaking United Nations-wide policy to prevent sexual exploitation and abuse by United Nations Peacekeepers and humanitarian staff, especially in conflict-affected settings.
