Shannon Wong
County Legislator, 21st Legislative District, Orange County, New York
Shannon Wong has been working to end violence against women for more than twenty years. For over a decade, she worked at the YWCA, an organization whose mission includes the elimination of racism and the empowerment of women, and was the driving force behind YWCA’s local and statewide anti-trafficking efforts. Ms. Wong continues to support the empowerment of women and girls as an elected official, serving as Orange County Legislator for the 21st Legislative District in New York.
“We must recognize that trafficking is happening in our communities; the failure to do so is tantamount to failing victims. And we must address the cultural norms that create an atmosphere where people can buy and sell women and girls.”
